Based in Aberdeenshire, the business supports onshore and offshore projects, from field development, decommissioning and repurposing for carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) to geothermal.

Elemental Energies is on a mission to ensure it has a strong ESG strategy - as part of that, it has a focus on reducing its own carbon emissions. Sustainability is integral to the business and central to both its internal and external branding.

The business partnered with Gofor in 2023 to offer electric vehicle salary sacrifice to employees as a core part of its ESG objectives.

The challenge

Elemental Energies was looking for a proactive, experienced fleet partner who could implement an electric vehicle (EV) salary sacrifice scheme for the business. As a busy, growing company, it needed a partner who could support its drivers with the switch to EV and make the process simple.

Gofor created and implemented a bespoke salary sacrifice scheme for Elemental Energies - including an easy to use salary sacrifice portal and provision of one-to-one driver support.

Make it easy for employees

Gofor implemented an easy-to-use online portal with functionality for employees to view available electric cars, conduct a simple tax deduction analysis and compare costs. Employees also benefit from personalised support from the Gofor account team from vehicle selection stage right through their EV journey.

Strong launch event

Gofor organised an onsite Tesla experience day at the company headquarters to bring the scheme to life. Employees were able to test drive a Tesla and the day even converted some EV-sceptic drivers.

Cost savings

The scheme enables employees to switch to an EV cost effectively and it also makes savings for the business due to the tax efficiency of salary sacrifice. Because the deduction for the vehicle is taken from an employee’s gross salary, it reduces the income tax and national insurance (NI) contributions they pay and also lowers the employer's Class 1a NI contributions.

The salary sacrifice scheme is a core part of the company’s sustainability ethos. The scheme enables employees to actively contribute to reducing the company's carbon emissions.
