Gofor has announced SAMH (Scottish Action for Mental Health) as our charity partner for 2024. The partnership demonstrates Gofor's commitment to social impact and our passion for championing mental health initiatives, and forms part of a wider focus on charitable causes within the business.
SAMH is Scotland's leading mental health charity, providing vital support and services to those affected by mental health problems or poor mental health. Their work includes providing mental health information and advice, offering counselling and support services and campaigning for better mental health services in Scotland.
We are delighted to pledge year-round fundraising efforts to support SAMH. This includes in-office fundraisers and team entry into sponsored events like the Edinburgh Marathon and Edinburgh Kiltwalk.
Employees within Gofor voted for SAMH from a shortlist of three local charities to be their charity of the year for 2024, with the business making one-off donations to the other charities.
Graham Lesslie, chief executive officer at Gofor, commented on the partnership:
I’m incredibly proud of the team for choosing SAMH for our 2024 charity efforts. Mental health, especially in the post-pandemic world, is a huge challenge for our society. To have Gofor making a difference in this space means a lot to me personally, and to our people.
Rachel Bottomley, account manager at SAMH, stated:
The need to support mental health has never been greater and Gofor's partnership will help us to reach more people than ever, making a real impact for people in communities across Scotland.
The team are aiming to raise a five-figure sum for SAMH across 2024, with the funds going towards raising awareness about mental health issues and providing vital support to those in need. And things have started well with the first event of the year, a company bake off, raising £525!
In addition to working with SAMH, Gofor have created their first charity team that will run the SAMH fundraising efforts, as well as the company ‘give a day back’ initiative, which will see all Gofor employees have a day to help out at a charity of their choice.
Andrew Raeburn, systems implementation executive at Gofor, was nominated as the 2024 charity team chairperson and said:
It’s great to be part of a business that is giving something back and supporting its employees to make a difference. I can’t wait to get started working with my charity team and the team at SAMH to raise awareness of this fantastic charity and to support them to change lives.
Gofor have set up a JustGiving page to manage all their donations to SAMHfor 2024. The page can be found here.
